Full-Cycle Recruiting
What is full-cycle recruiting?
Full-cycle recruiting (also called full-desk or 360 recruiting) is a model in which a single recruiter owns every stage of hiring for a role (from intake and sourcing through screening, interviewing, offer, and close) rather than handing stages off to specialists. One person carries the candidate and the hiring manager relationship all the way through, giving them full context on the role and the pipeline.
Why full-cycle recruiting matters
Ownership is the core benefit. When one recruiter runs the whole process, there are no handoff gaps, the candidate has a single consistent point of contact, and accountability for the outcome is clear. This model is especially valuable for startups, agencies, and lean teams where splitting hiring into specialized functions isn't practical. It also builds deep recruiter expertise, since the same person sees which sourcing tactics, screens, and pitches actually convert to hires.
How full-cycle recruiting works
The recruiter runs all six classic stages: (1) intake (aligning with the hiring manager on the role and criteria; (2) sourcing) finding candidates via search, boards, and outreach; (3) screening (assessing fit against job-related requirements; (4) interviewing) coordinating and often conducting interviews; (5) offer, extending and negotiating; and (6) close/onboarding handoff. Because one person owns all six, the model depends heavily on having connected tools, a scattered stack makes full-cycle ownership a juggling act.
Example
At a 15-person agency, one recruiter takes a new client req from intake to placement: they map the market, source and screen candidates, run the interviews, and manage the offer, all from one candidate record, so the client gets a single accountable contact and faster submissions.
Best practices
-
Invest in connected tooling so one recruiter isn't switching between disconnected systems.
-
Standardize intake so every role starts with clear, job-related criteria.
-
Automate coordination (scheduling, reminders) so the recruiter's time goes to sourcing and evaluation.
-
Track pipeline metrics per recruiter to balance workload and spot bottlenecks.
Common challenges
Full-cycle recruiters can become bottlenecks at high volume, since one person handles every stage. Context-switching between sourcing, interviewing, and offers is taxing, and quality can dip if any single stage (often sourcing) is under-resourced. Connected tools and automation of busywork are the main mitigations.
How uRecruits helps
uRecruits gives a single recruiter one connected workspace for all six stages (sourcing, screening, scheduling, and offers on one candidate record) so full-cycle ownership doesn't mean juggling disconnected tools.
