Job Distribution
What is job distribution?
Job distribution is the practice of publishing a single job posting to many boards, aggregators, and channels at once, rather than posting to each one manually. Instead of copying a role into a dozen sites and managing a dozen inboxes, a distribution integration pushes the posting out broadly and routes every resulting application back into one system.
Why job distribution matters
Reach and efficiency are the twin benefits. Distribution widens the top of the funnel (putting the role in front of far more relevant candidates) while saving the recruiter hours of manual posting and consolidating applications in one place. It also makes channel performance measurable: because applications are tracked by source, teams can see which boards actually produce quality candidates and invest accordingly, instead of guessing.
How job distribution works
A distribution capability connects the recruiting system to a network of job boards and aggregators. The recruiter publishes once; the integration syndicates the posting to selected boards; and applicants from every channel flow back into the ATS tagged by source. Some networks reach tens of thousands of sites, including niche and regional boards a recruiter would never post to individually. Reporting then attributes applicants and hires to their originating channel.
Example
Rather than posting a warehouse role to eight regional boards by hand, a recruiter publishes once and distributes it across a large board network; all applicants land in one pipeline tagged by source, and after a week the recruiter sees which two boards produced the qualified candidates and focuses spend there.
Best practices
-
Distribute to a mix of general and niche/regional boards relevant to the role.
-
Always track applicants by source so you can measure channel quality, not just volume.
-
Consolidate all applications in one system to avoid scattered inboxes and duplicate handling.
-
Reallocate budget toward the channels that produce quality hires, not just clicks.
Common challenges
Without source tracking, teams distribute widely but can't tell which channels work, so spend is wasted. Managing applications across many separate board inboxes (rather than one system) also creates duplicate work and dropped candidates.
How uRecruits helps
uRecruits' Jobs Marketplace publishes to 22,000+ boards and sites (via JobTarget) from a single posting, with applicants tracked centrally by source so teams can measure and invest in what works.
