Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Summary

Our Hospital in Athens, Georgia, is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team on a contract assignment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures, preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, and producing high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and radiation safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
• Prepare, administer, and properly dispose of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Position patients appropriately and select accurate anatomical and technical imaging factors.
• Ensure all images and documentation are complete, accurate, and promptly transmitted to PACS.
• Verify image quality, patient information, and appropriate lead markers before submission.
• Follow all radiation safety procedures and departmental guidelines.
• Monitor equipment performance and report malfunctions or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Implement lockout/tagout procedures when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Provide exceptional patient care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum of 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Current certification through ARRT (N) or NMTCB.
• Current BLS certification.
• Knowledge of radiation safety standards and nuclear medicine procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

Preferred:

• Previous hospital-based nuclear medicine experience.
• Experience working with PACS and electronic medical record systems.
